So, I’m a serious Instagram trawler, always looking for new and
exciting things, be it to find creative inspiration, new brands, awesome
bloggers or just for a bit down time. The day I stumbled across The Envy Edit
was pretty damn exciting, I instantly fell in love with how Angelique [the
artist] focuses on the fine details in each sketch and her subtle use of watercolour…
not to mention the items she featured were awesome! I wanted to know a little
bit more about the babe behind the art, so I contact her and here’s what she
had to say…
What inspired you to start The Envy Edit?
I would definitely say I was inspired by fashion, brands, trends
and of course coffee. I come from a design background and I've been drawing
forever. I would be constantly researching blogs and brands for trend research
and would find myself sketching as I worked. I never had the time to dedicate
to an Instagram account, it would always just be a little bit here and there.
It wasn't until later in the year that I had the time to actually do something
about it. I'd like to think of it like the modern blog meets the traditional
sketch. Both are forms of expression, I'm just combining the two.
What jewellery brands make your heart tick?
Too many! Haha I tend to go from one extreme to the other. I
love statement jewellery like Dylanlex for when I'm feeling daring. But
majority of the time it would be clean, delicate pieces such as Dogeared. At
the moment - I can't get enough of Ford and Harris' 'Spike Jonze' Succulent
collection.
How would you describe your style?
This is a tough one...Casual with a twist of tomboy and a splash
of sporty chic...
What's your favourite thing to do in Summer?
Eat ice cream and draw in front of the air con. Lol
On the rare occasion that I stop drawing, I like to go out for
something to eat or have a few drinks, maybe see a show at the Sydney Festival
or even swim! But it's around that time when it's just starting to cool down
and the sky is turning all those amazing colours and the smell of Summer is
everywhere.
What song is on repeat in your car at the moment?
Uptown Funk by Bruno Mars and Mark Ronson
Lastly, 2015 is a new year… any resolutions?
I still have to finish the ones from 2014 haha.
I would say my New Year resolutions are to go for it, and not
hold back. It's the year of dreaming big and chasing those goals.
As you can see she is super down to earth and obviously a pretty
damn cool chick, I mean, she has Bruno Mars on repeat in her car at the moment,
that says a lot! [to me anyways, ha!] Considering I have a serious obsession
with these sketches you best watch this space as TNB and The Envy Edit may just
be working on a sneaky little collaboration very soon!
